The Wine: Domaine A. Berthet-Rayne is a four-generation family estate based in Cairanne, farming 22 hectares under full biodynamic certification since 2004. Sourced from clay-limestone soils laced with alpine alluvial galets in the southern Rhône. Grapes are farmed without herbicides, harvested by hand, and vinified with temperature-controlled fermentation to preserve primary fruit and freshness.
Le Nichoir à Mésange 2024 is a bright, generous expression of Côtes du Rhône — biodynamically grown and vinified to stay lively rather than heavy. It opens with aromas of fresh cherry, ripe raspberry, and black olive, lifted by a whisper of dried thyme and cracked black pepper. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied with a silky, almost creamy texture, carrying juicy red fruit and a fine tannic frame through a long, vibrant finish.
Pairing: A slow-braised lamb shoulder with herbs de Provence, a lentil and roasted tomato gratin, or a late-summer dinner eaten outside.
