The Wine: Château La Grolet is the Hubert family’s biodynamic estate in Bourg, known for making deeply classical Bordeaux with real energy and lift. Tête de Cuvée comes from the domaine’s best old-vine fruit. The 2019 vintage is built from 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Malbec, from biodynamically farmed vineyards on the Right Bank.
2019 Château La Grolet Tête de Cuvée is a dark, structured, quietly polished expression of Côtes de Bourg, combining black-fruited depth, gravelly tension, and floral spice in a style that feels grounded, serious, and just a little wild at the edges. It opens with aromas of crunchy plum, cassis, and dark flowers, lifted by graphite and crushed stone. On the palate, it is firm and savory, with dense blue-black fruit, steady acidity, and a long finish marked by spice, mineral grip, and fine, sticky tannin.
Pairing: Lamb chops with rosemary, grilled eggplant with yogurt and herbs, aged Comté, or a cast-iron mushroom burger with everything on it and no interest in being delicate. We refuse to let you suffer the same shame as the McDonald’s CEO.
